How beautiful you are, my darling, how beautiful you are! You have dove’s eyes behind your veil.
Song of Songs 4:1

Recently, Northern California experienced the most devastating fire that tragically destroyed wineries, homes, business, and even lives. I know this is a sensitive time for them, as their journey of recovery has just started, but today we’re dedicating this blog post to our dear Sonoma friends. The stunning winery we’re featuring today was blessed and safe from harm, but from their kindness of their hearts and for the deep love of their community, they started a Heart of the Vine Relief Fund for the people and families that were affected.  If you can give, just know that every little counts.

From the planner and designer Nichole Monjay of Florathérapie  who created this beautiful shoot, “The inspiration for this Sonoma shoot at Viansa Winery centered on the verse from Song of Songs, “How beautiful you are, my darling, how beautiful you are! You have dove’s eyes behind your veil.” Doves are a symbol of faithfulness as they pick one mate for life, and if they are well looked after, always choose to fly home where their dove families are. We were fortunate to work with 2 dove release companies in the Napa area, and as one of the owners commented, “they almost always beat us home when we release them. Because we take good care of them and they are happy, they WANT to fly home.” Sure enough, these 7 feathered ladies made it safely back before their caretakers! And we didn’t even realize the stone fountain at Viansa was of a dove in flight, which of course made the PERFECT backdrop!

Viansa winery was the ideal background for this dreamy, romantic shoot that felt like a gathering in the gardens of Provence. Surrounded by wild olive trees and vineyards, organic lavender intermingled throughout the gardenesque tablescape designed by Florathérapie.

Rustic hand written menu cards that also doubled for place cards from Bijou Creative, Silk & Willow linens and napkins, accents of worn-edged pages from antique French gardening books – as well as a French farm table, garden chairs and rentals from Bright Events, a vine-woven cake from Paula LeDuc Fine Catering all elegantly captured by The W Portraiture.

The model wore Sarah Seven and shoes straight from Emmy London, with a host of other unique details like favors of Floret seed packets, a linen calligraphied table number enclosed in a thyme embellished embroidery hoop (original idea perfect for DYI feature!) and antique European wax seals from St. Signora among other details that will make one want to wander through each garden impressed image…
