Today is my 4-year wedding anniversary with my hubby. Hooray! *cheers and toasts* Four years ago, I was in a totally different place. I wasn’t running a wedding magazine then, so I was planning my wedding from an everyday bride’s perspective, with few connections in the wedding world. But even in my position now, I would hire that same team of vendors again in a heartbeat (side note: my photographer Thao Vu is now featured in our current issue!). Here’s me and my dashing hubby as newlyweds.

And as an anniversary gift, Lucia gave me this stack of recipe cards that everyone wrote from my bridal shower four years ago! It was the sweetest gift ever! It’s so much fun to read these cards four years into the marriage because I see how true they are. So I’d love to share some of my favorites with you!

Lucy’s Perfect Recipe!
a little bit of sugar, with a dash of sweet compliments, pour in a lot of laughter, shake it all up and add lots and lots of love. Top it off with God and you and Patrick are golden and tasty!

The Perfect Husband Recipe
1 lb Love (the more, the better!)
1/2 cup Trust
1 tbs Passion
2 tsp Patience
1 pinch Fun & Dancing
Combine all ingredients and mix until warm and fuzzy. Bake at 450 degrees F for 1 hour and do not put in secrets under any circumstance! Serve piping hot!

Recipe for a Happy/Perfect Marriage
1. Laughter - tell each other a lame joke from time to time
2. Good communication - share stories with each other, like “Remember one time at band camp”
3. Faith in a higher being - pray for one another
