Great Theme!!!! I so love this festively decorated table…

The Mad Hatter’s Tea is one of my most cherrished themes for a shower….I actually used it for my sister’s Baby Shower 17 years ago..(how is that possible)

Additional materials I used was a wide swath of Tulle (not expensive and easy to find in a yardage store) bunched up and wildly strewn down the table as a table runner before setting it. It gave the room a fun and etherial look. I also used both demi-tass and latte cups in all sizes and colors to create highs and lows on the table, this is when whatever you got in your kitchen magically works….. I served both petite finger food next to huge scones and at the time, I owned enough hats to put on each head that walked in the door, but many brought their own….as well as a large looking glass as part of the decor. (If you want to go all out, we also draped fabric from my cieling, and around the door ways) I had a tiny apartment and a sit down for 37 people, so the only thing i rented were padded white folding chairs, and a 4 long tables, because once you were seated, there was no getting up. The looking glass allowed everyone to see eachother in the mirror if in fact you were around the corner…(think L formation )

I am embarrassed to say, that in the classic fashion of someone who at the time made their living from designing custom invitations, I was a bit tardy in getting my own invitations out…(clearly an occupational hazzard)

Luckily for me,….”I’m late, I’m late for a very important date!” became the perfect first line of the invite and a great way to set the tone. ….as well as “RSVP or it’s Off with your Head!”

…..17 years later the thought of it all still makes me smile.
