Another reason why we should choose LOVE.

This weekend I got around to baking again and trying out a recipe I had in my head for a very special person… Lucia (the other half of UE)! Today’s her birthday and I wanted to make her some cupcakes. Recently she went to Hawaii and I think her heart is left in the beautiful islands because she still dreams of the Hawaiian breezes and drinking from coconuts. So I made her pineapple coconut cupcakes to bring Hawaii to her. Hope she likes it.
Anyways, when I saw this engagement session by Diane Moncion Photography for her couple Elise and Jessie, I was totally smitten by how sweet it is! What a great idea to do your engagement session in a cute cupcake shop! The owner of Mini’s Cupcakes was lovely enough to let them in during closing hours to have the place to themselves. Thank you for sharing these yummylicious images, Diane! I’m gonna have to eat one of Lucy’s cupcakes after this (shh… don’t tell!).

When planning your engagement shoot, not only should you think about what’s special from your love story that you can incorporate into your shoot, but also the time of day you should do it. For our couple Allison and Austin, their photographer Kelly Cameron made really good use of the golden light at sunset to tell their love story. And since they are both big music lovers, introducing Austin’s actual record players and favorite records made their engagement session truly theirs.

In Singapore (and a few other Asian cultures), it is common for couples to have a pre-wedding/engagement session where they get into formal wear, even in a bridal gown for the bride-to-be and suits for her man. It is usually the first time the couple gets a professional picture taken of both of them before their actual wedding day, and it takes a lot of planning to decide on the concepts, locations, outfits, makeup and hairstyles, which happens long before the actual shoot.
Today’s featured couple Karen and Kenneth came from Singapore and they picked Princeton University where they fell in love for their location. Their photographer Lindsey of Lindsey K Photography did a great job capturing them at their favorite spots on campus in their wedding attire.

Karen also got a couple fun dresses from Rent the Runway for more casual fun shots!

When the owner of a stylish boutique store in San Francisco gets engaged, you know you’re in for a fashionable engagement session. Marisa and Dan chose the Sutro Baths and Ocean Beach for a mix of glam and casual chic.

We’re totally diggin’ her two looks. The first look with a sparkly sequined dress and nude heels on the sandy beach is unexpected yet oh-so-sexy.

And we absolutely love her peplum top and hot pink pants with gold pumps! What a fun way to make your pictures pop!
