A Picnic for Two at a Sunny Orange Grove in California

picnic_geraldcarvalho1

Imagine this. Escaping the city with your sweetie for a secret picnic made for two underneath sunny orange trees, reading a good book together over sweets and soda. Oh how lovely would that be!

A Pop-Up Wedding : RUNAWAY with Me

There’s something magical about getting eloped. Just you and your fiancé making that commitment to one another to always love and cherish. Like any other big wedding it is just as beautiful. Are you torn between having a lovingly hand-crafted dream wedding, and saving some cash (and sanity!) by eloping with your sweetheart? Now you can have both. Sitting in a Tree, Rad + In Love, Yeah! Rentals, Pitbulls and Posies, Bloem Hill, A MIHO experience, and The Hostess Haven are collaborating on one very awesome & memorial experience for you and your hunny – Runaway: A Pop-Up Wedding. Take a peek at their inspiration board…

runaway_inspiration1

Here is how it works: They’re offering a pop up wedding venue in place of running away to vegas or city hall with a hand picked cast of the raddest vendors in the wedding world. (Perfect for couples on a budget who wish they could afford all of these rad vendors at once).

They’ll provide: A hand crafted and styled venue, celebratory cocktails and pre ceremony apps, a mini bouquet, photography coverage of your ceremony & a portrait session, a private wedding ceremony with officiant, live music, and downloadable announcements so you can tell everyone what it is you crazy kids have gone and done.

You bring: Yourself and your fiance, a marriage license (vow renewals and same sex unions welcome!), up to 12 of your favorite witnesses, some killer style, and all the love you got.

The whole shindig lasts about an hour and a half, start to finish and will set you back 1200 bones. Ready to sign up? Reach the crew at hello@runawaypopup.com to ask questions and set up your pretty elopement date! Don’t walk. Run.

A Rustic Elegant Wedding at the Olde Dobbin Station

As we enter the Spring season for weddings, we thought we celebrated a few weddings that embodied the beauty of Winter weddings. We are so in awe of this beautiful wedding that Kimberly Chau photographed. Such a sweet, rustic, elegant wedding in Houston, Texas. The bride and groom wanted a simple wedding, with the warmth of their love. The Olde Dobbin Station was exactly that, with a dash of rustic, bold and chic, and vintage charm. Without taking away from the beauty of the venue, they used design elements such as rusted iron, imperfect and exposed wood, lace, and paper flowers mixed with memories of winter (pine and snowflakes), had everything balanced perfectly against the restored, elegant venue. A beautiful wedding that you do not want to miss.

How did you two meet? Danny and I met senior year in high school though we lived only two blocks from each other our entire lives. We met through friends when he was in auto-shop class and I was a class officer. The auto-shop teacher was the senior class sponsor so I spent a lot of time there. We were friends at first, but it blossomed from there.

What inspired your wedding day look? Those that know Danny and me know that we like to keep things very simple. We don’t like a lot of fluff, just very classic and elegant, with a rustic feel. The dress that I chose wasn’t something I would have picked out originally, but it was so classic and I loved the way it hugged me in all the right places. Though I like things simple, it was still my wedding day so I figured the blinged-out belt and earrings gave the dress a little sparkle it needed to complete the look. For Danny, we originally chose black suits, but we didn’t want it to look too black-tie. Formal really isn’t our style so the gray suits really complemented the look and feel for the day.

What unique details would you like to share from the wedding day? I think the location itself was very unique. It’s such a beautifully restored, elegant venue that there aren’t any additional decorations that are needed. Though, our caterer/decorator (The Bake Shoppe) provided several things that really added value to the venue (i.e. the paper flowers above the arch and head table, rice crispy cake and cookies, the umbrella used to cover me before being seen).

What was your favorite part of your wedding day? Minus the part of finally becoming Mrs. Danny Alford, probably getting a chance to see all our family and friends together. Danny and I have been together for 12 years and during that time, many have contributed to watching us and our relationship grow. It was just amazing and a very rare event to see all those that care about us rooting us on after all this time.

A Singaporean Engagement at Princeton University

In Singapore (and a few other Asian cultures), it is common for couples to have a pre-wedding/engagement session where they get into formal wear, even in a bridal gown for the bride-to-be and suits for her man. It is usually the first time the couple gets a professional picture taken of both of them before their actual wedding day, and it takes a lot of planning to decide on the concepts, locations, outfits, makeup and hairstyles, which happens long before the actual shoot.

Today’s featured couple Karen and Kenneth came from Singapore and they picked Princeton University where they fell in love for their location. Their photographer Lindsey of Lindsey K Photography did a great job capturing them at their favorite spots on campus in their wedding attire.

Together for the Holidays :: A Benefit Event for Kids

together2

Although the holidays is still a little over a month away, we’re already thinking about twinkle lights and peppermint hot chocolates. But what we love most about the holidays is getting together with our loved ones and remembering those who are less fortunate. Our friends at Blu Bungalow and Very Merry Events in San Francisco had the same idea. On December 9, 2012, they will be hosting a fun event called Together for the Holidays where kids get to decorate cupcakes, do holiday crafts, play games, and all the kids at heart will get to learn creative ways to gift wrap, decorate your holiday table, how to look hot for the holidays, and find ways to detox during the holidays. The best part of the event is that, besides all the fun things planned, they’re giving hope to those in need. There will raffles and prizes, and a silent auction, where all the proceeds will benefit Cancercare for Kids. They’re also having a children’s shoe bin collection for Project Resoled. This fun event will be from 1pm-6pm at Blu Bungalow, 2068 Union St., San Francisco. If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by and show your support for those who are less fortunate. And while you’re at it, get inspired for your holidays! The event is free, but please RSVP so they know who’s coming! To follow updates on the event, please go to their site.
